Roodepoort cares for the aged
Roodepoort Care for the Aged AGM reports great results and successes.
The many triumphs of the Roodepoort Care for the Aged (RCA) organisation were discussed at their annual general meeting (AGM) on Tuesday 10 September at Tornado Park.
Executive Board Chairman Darryl Phillips led the meeting of which the purpose was to elaborate on the organisation’s annual financial results for 2012-2013, their successes and their challenges. The RCA choir opened with gospel songs while stakeholders settled down for the good news.
“We had a wonderful time meeting together, working together and achieving together,” Phillips said in his address to the stakeholders.
Treasurer Colleen Carls thanked everyone for their contributors.
“We thank all those who donated money and time during the year.”
Phillips made a special mention of the Department of Social Development and the National Lottery for their contributions to the RCA throughout the 2012-2013 financial year.
He wished the organisation well, hoping that it “may be a beacon of light to all those that cross [its] path”.
The combined executive and management boards heading the meeting later presented the auditor’s report, courtesy of Haasbroek & Steyn.
Questions were raised about whether the food donated to the RCA has been distributed fairly among its beneficiaries, as well as about the duties and responsibilities of the RCA representatives, having been chosen from each of the beneficiary centres.
After all questions were answered satisfactorily, the board continued to nominate and ratify members of the new management board.
It was explained that, although the executive board members remain in office for two years, the management board and the RCA ombudsman are re-elected annually at the AGM.
Councillor Willie van der Schyf described the work that the RCA has done in the past year as “wonderful”, closing the meeting by saying that its “contributions indicate [its] commitment to the community”.
Some discussion about the RCA’s endeavours for the 2013-2014 financial year followed.
