Elderly man knocked down by delivery bike
Both parties sustain injuries after delivery bike runs over elderly man.
An elderly man believed to be in his 70s was knocked down by a motorbike on Ontdekkers Road at the corner of 13th Street in Delarey on 3 September, according to Vanessa Jackson, ER Crisis Communicator.
Paramedics arrived on scene to find the man lying in the road. He was bleeding from his head and his arm and leg appeared to be broken. The Advanced Life Support paramedic immediately took over treatment and provided the man with pain medication. He was stabilised after which he was transported to Helen Joseph Hospital for further care.
The driver of the delivery bike involved came off the bike and suffered minor injuries. He too was taken to hospital by the ambulance for further care.
It appears that the elderly man attempted to cross the road when the delivery bike knocked him down. Local police will investigate the cause and exact details surrounding the accident.
