Update: City Parks cuts down Witpoortjie tree

A tree that damaged two residents' vehicles is cut down by City Parks.

As speculated about earlier on Friday 30 August, City Parks workers indeed came to cut down a bothersome and rotten tree on Generaal Pienaar Street.

This follows a natural disaster earlier on Friday morning where a rotten tree fell on residents’ vehicles that were parked in the parking lot of Witpoortjie Spar.

JMPD officers Combrinck and Du Toit, earlier on scene, said that City Parks were busy all over Roodepoort cutting down hazardous trees and removing the ones that have fallen.

At around 1pm City Parks workers could be seen cutting down and removing the tree that damaged the vehicles.

It is uncertain whether other trees on the border of the parking lot and Generaal Pienaar Street also will be removed, as residents and eyewitnesses believe their roots are rotten as well.
