Robbers assault man with hammer

Suspects caught with goods and cash.

Two men aged between 20 and 30 were arrested in the early hours of 19 August after robbing a spaza shop in Tshepisong Phase 5, Roodepoort.

The sector police were patrolling the area when they received a call of a robbery in progress at a spaza shop on Bujumbura Street. The police responded quickly and found two suspects in the shop.

One suspect assaulted the shop owner with a hammer. The two suspects were arrested on the scene. They were found in possession of stolen airtime, groceries and R3 000 in cash. The suspects were charged with business robbery.

The suspect will appear in the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court on a charge of business robbery.
