Electrician dies a suspicious death

An electrical technician was found dead on Asgaai Avenue, Randpark Ridge.

At first it was believed that the man had been electrocuted, but this was later proved not to be the case.

Netcare 911 paramedics at the scene noted that he had no burn marks or tell-tale signs of electrocution. The cause of death remains uncertain until the autopsy is completed.

The man, supposedly in his thirties, was apparently working on a generator in a small substation on 14 August when he died. There were no witnesses to the incident.

“We cannot release any details on our employee or how he died until we get the results of the post-mortem”, stated management at BBP Projects, a sub-contracting company where the deceased had been working.

“The nature of his death has raised some suspicion, mostly due to the lack of witnesses. An inquest docket into his death has been opened,” said Honeydew SAPS spokesperson, Warrant Officer Karen Jacobs.

At this stage, no foul play is suspected.
