Motorist collides with JMPD vehicle

An alleged drunk driver rear-ended a JMPD vehicle.

In the small hours of Wednesday 31 July, a collision was reported between a motorist and a JMPD vehicle.

The collision occurred at the intersection of Gordon and Ontdekkers Roads. According to the Johannesburg Metro Police (JMPD) the motorist allegedly was drunk at the time of the collision and rear-ended the JMPD vehicle, injuring three JMPD officers.

According to Edna Mamonyane, JMPD spokesperson, the accident happened after midnight and the injured officers were taken to Milpark Hospital for further medical assistance. One officer sustained serious injuries while the other two officers sustained minor injuries. Emergency services could not comment on the accident yet.

“The motorist involved will appear in court on Wednesday on charges of drunken driving,” Mamonyane told the Record.
