Motorist collides with JMPD vehicle

An alleged drunken driver rear-ended a JMPD vehicle.

In the morning hours of Wednesday 31 July, a collision was reported between a motorist and a JMPD vehicle.

The collision occurred on the intersection of Gordon and Ontdekkers roads early on Wednesday morning. According to the Johannesburg Metro Police (JMPD) the motorist was allegedly drunk at the time of the collision. The motorist had rear-ended the JMPD vehicle, causing the injuries of three police officers.

According to Edna Mamonyane, JMPD spokesperson, the accident happened after midnight and the injured officers were taken to Milpark Hospital for further medical assistance. One officer sustained serious injuries while the other two officers sustained minor injuries. Emergency services could not comment on the accident as yet.

“The motorist involved will appear in court on Wednesday on charges of drunken driving,” Mamonyane told the Record.
