Drunken driver collides with JMPD vehicle, gets bail
A drunken motorist collides with a JMPD vehicle and gets bail.
The alleged drunk motorist that rear-ended a JMPD vehicle in the morning hours of Wednesday 31 July is to appear in court on the same day.
Florida Police spokesperson Captain Lydia Dikolomela confirmed that the motorist was arrested and brought to their station.
“It was in the early hours of the morning, as the accident occurred after midnight. JMPD arrested him on the scene and brought him here.”
Dikolomela says that the motorist is facing two charges – one of drunken driving and one of reckless and negligent driving. Florida Police released him on R1 000 bail.
Dikolomela could not confirm whether the motorist underwent a breathalyser test as he was arrested by JMPD officers. However, Edna Mamonyane, JMPD spokesperson, says that “the mere fact that he was arrested on charges of drunken driving indicates that a breathalyser test was done”.
The motorist is yet to appear in court.
