Satisfactory performance by Florida swimmers in KZN

It was an up to scratch performance by swimmers of the Florida Swimming Club (FSC) after the club was ranked among the top 20 at the KwaZulu-Natal Speedo Prestige Tournament held at the Aquatic Kings Park Centre in early July.

Overall, FSC was placed 20th out of the 43 teams from all over the country. Both relay teams from the club had the great achievement of reaching the top eight spot in the various relays.

Swimmers to have made finals in their respective events include Alfred Purchase, Cassidy Stockigt, Jessica van der Merwe, Johathan Ackerman and Jessica de Beer.

Head coach Tracey Hemphill said, “The event was a small kick-start to see where the swimmers are going into the summer.

“It was our first big long course swimming meeting of the season and we liked to participate as it was a national event. Along with the experience came a tour of Durban and team building,” Tracey added.

Big name swimmers in action at this event included London 2012 gold medalist, Chad le Clos.
