
Sewage spill sites in Gauteng are becoming an increasing threat to the environment.
In a bid to address the problem the DA in Gauteng will be conducting a series of site inspections at dysfunctional sewage systems in the province. They started in Randfontein on 25 July.
The lack of maintenance of this area’s sewerage infrastructure is a crisis and a potential environmental disaster.
Already boreholes on farms as well as streams are being polluted and health problems and job losses are being touted.
Councillors Siena Erasmus and Peter Dick from Randfontein, as well as MPL Thomas Walters will conduct the site inspections.
