With a prayer asking for good health and a special assembly with singing that lifted the rooftops pupils of Princess Primary School spent their 67 minutes honouring former President Nelson Mandela.
On Thursday 18 July when Nelson Mandela, known all over the world as Madiba, turned 95 and as always, Princess Primary and its pupils went all out.
Celebrations started with a special assembly with speeches and the reading of poems followed by Grade 7 pupil, Thandani Masango’s never-to-be-forgotten prayer asking for good health for Madiba.
Eden Daniels of the school says, “Everyone in the hall then quickly started singing.
“Besides the prairs and special assembly held for Madiba, the school donated old clothes and non-perishable food to selected charities during the month of July as well as 67 cents as part of our contribution signifying the 67 years that Madiba sacrificed his life.
“This money will be used to supplement the food given to needy pupils on a daily basis.”
