Even the less abled made an effort to wish former South African president Nelson Mandela a happy 95th birthday.
This was the case at Pathways Roodepoort, a Stimulation Centre for children with severe disabilities, when they hosted a celebration party for the beloved icon on Thursday 18 July.
Considering the hand painting, fooling around with paint on their faces, balloons and some delicious cake, Pathways went all out.
Joining in the fun was insurance company Payneless Bonds who brought colouring-in books, cake, clay, toiletries and groceries for the kitchen as part of their 67 minutes for Madiba.
“Mandela Day is about celebrating a wonderful man with the rest of the country and we wanted to be a part of it.
“Our aim was to reach out to those less fortunate and I think we achieved it here today,” executive financial property consultant at Payneless Bonds, Sanette Payne said.
“Madiba stands for peace and unity.”
Celebrations were ended when everybody joined in and sang birthday hits such as Happy Birthday and How old are you now.
