Metrobus strike ends

Samwu members' strike ends on Monday 15 July.

Commuters who make use of the Metrobus services should note that the strike action has ended and that bus services commenced on Monday 15 July.

The strike action by South African Municipal Worker’s Union (Samwu) members that commenced on Monday 8 July ended on Friday 12 July.

“Agreement has been reached between management and Samwu on the issues that led to the strike action of the past week. We are pleased to announce that members now will return to work.

“We would like to extend our sincere apologies to all our loyal passengers for the disruption of the bus service during the past week,” a Metrobus press release explained.

“All our buses are back on the road,” Metrobus spokesperson Ranti Mahlabana told the Record upon enquiry.

Record intern Lisa Oelschig expressed her relief at the news.

“It is such a relief that the strike has ended just as college is about to begin, now I don’t have to worry about transport arrangements.”
