ICE proved their dedication and role as a crime prevention organisation after they had recovered a brand-new C180 Mercedez-Benz at an abandoned house at 57 Rebecca Street on Tuesday night 9 July.
Chairperson of ICE, Luqmaan Rahim says, “The vehicle had only 400km on the clock and the mission took at least five hours, but is most definitely our biggest success yet”.
Rahim says that ICE had its suspicions about the abandoned house for some time, having received information of alleged car chopping at the address and decided to investigate.
ICE notified the South African Police Service (SAPS) of their suspicions. The vehicle eventually was identified and the owner arrived with a spare key to claim his vehicle.
Rahim says that unfortunately “no suspects were apprehended”.
Since their establishment in February this year, ICE has stopped three rapes from occurring, as well as an attempted theft of a vehicle.
